Our Session
The session is the chief governing body of our congregation and meets approximately once a month. It consists of those persons elected by the congregation to active service as ruling elders, together with our pastor. All members of the session are entitled to vote. The pastor serves as moderator of the session.
The session has responsibility of governing the congregation and guiding its witness to the sovereign activity of God in the world, so that we may be and become a community of faith, hope, love, and witness.
Our Ministry Teams
Ministry teams at Emory Presbyterian Church operate under the oversight of the session and are open to anyone interested in serving. We value the participation of all, in whatever way they are able to share their time, talent, and enthusiasm. If you have ideas for enhancing our life and ministries, you are encouraged to share them and get involved. The ministry team chairs welcome your participation! Please contact the church office if you’re interested in being part of a ministry team and would like to connect with the team chair.
Christian Education
The Christian Education ministry team is responsible for all of the educational ministries of the congregation – from our youngest children to our oldest adults. This includes Sunday School classes for children, an Adult Bible Study, Wednesday night Bible Studies, and special educational offerings such as our innovative “Wine & Wisdom” series of presentations.
Church Life
The Church Life ministry team organizes the many special fellowship opportunities offered by the church, including the Church-wide Retreat in August, the Fall Festival in September, and numerous other events throughout the year.
Finance
The Finance ministry Team oversees the financial health of the church. It manages the annual stewardship campaign and helps to ensure that the church operates on a sound fiscal basis.
Mission
The Mission ministry team looks for ways to extend the caring reach of the Emory congregation out into the Atlanta community and beyond. Through the work of this team, Emory Church supports many local and global efforts to help those in need.
Outreach
The Outreach ministry team works to increase Emory Church’s visibility in the community and attract new people to our congregation. From sponsoring special events, to enhancing our visitors’ experiences, to maintaining the church’s web site, this team is always looking to spread the word about what God is doing here.
Personnel
The Personnel ministry team works with our staff to help it be as strong and as effective in ministry as possible. It listens and provides feedback to staff members throughout the year, in addition to conducting annual reviews.
Property
The Property ministry team oversees the maintenance and use of church’s beautiful property and facilities, and has been essential in our recent capital campaigns and building and grounds improvements.
Worship
The Worship ministry directs the worship and musical life of the church, from the form of the Sunday morning worship service, to special liturgies and seasonal events, to the outstanding contribution of our chancel choir.
